Exporting

All this work isn't any good if you can't get it the results out of GCrafter. So we support multiple formats to work with where you need to take your design next.

2D Exports

  • SVG - Good for both CAM and importing into other CAD / Layout tools for final fit and finish
  • DXF - Same as above, but well, you know, DXF
  • PDF - Super helpful if you need to print your design. Pro Tip: If your output is huge, download Adobe Acrobat reader and use the "Print Tiling" option. Print multple sheets and then tape them back together
  • Image - Take a snapshot of the current 3D view and downloads it to your computer

When exporting SVG, PDF, or DXF, if your project spans multiple sheets, you will be asked if you'd like "Single" or "Multiple." And this is just what it sounds like. One file with all sheets, multiple files with single sheets. Vectric for example, support multiple sheets, but not importing one file with multiple sheets. Choose what you want, and GCrafter will hook you up.

3D Exports

You may wonder why GCrafter has a 3D export options. The Models created in GCrafter are all Manifold (ie Watertight Geometry). This makes them suitable for 3D printing. Wood is expensive and plastic is cheap. Maybe you want to print a small, scale version of your final project before comtting to hundreds in plywood, to just see it. Maybe you want to bring it into another rendering program, maybe you want to sell the 3D model to owners of 3D printers. Whatever your reason GCrafter exports

  • GLTF - Great for online WEB viewing
  • STL
  • OBJ
